ISSDP/ESC Working Group on European Drug Policy

This working group is a joint initiative between the ISSDP and the European Society of Criminology. It brings together members of both societies who share an interest in drug policy in Europe.

Upcoming activities: 2025 EUROCRIM Conference – Athens , Greece

  • The ISSDP/ESC Working Group on European Drug Policy will be hosting an informal meet-up at the 2025 EUROCRIM Conference in Athens on the night of 4th September 2025.
  • This will be a chance for drug policy researchers to meet up informally, and discuss topics of mutual interest.
  • If you would like to attend, please email Alex Stevens (alex.stevens@sheffield.ac.uk).
  • The ISSDP/ESC Working Group will also be running thematic sessions on drug policy at the conference.

Past activities:

2024 EUROCRIM – Bucharest, Romania
The ISSDP/ESC Working Group on European Drug Policy ran a drugs and crime sub-theme at the 2024 EUROCRIM Conference in Bucharest with sessions on Drugs across borders: international research on drug trafficking networks; Cannabis and cannabinoids; Drugs, crime and criminal justice; and Online Markets, drugs, treatment and harm reduction.

The Working Group also held a meet up in Bucharest which attracted over 20 drug policy researchers for an informal gathering and exchange of ideas.
