This will be the first time that the ISSDP annual meeting takes place outside Europe or the US. By holding the 2013 ISSDP annual conference in Latin America we aim to encourage more research on drug policy issues in producer and transit countries and the increased involvement of Latin American researchers in the ISSDP.

The sixth annual conference of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy (ISSDP) was held at Cathedral Lodge. The event was hosted by the University of Kent (School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research).
The conference discussed a wide range of drug policy issues, with a particular focus on 'how can and do empirical studies influence drug policy?' There was also a plenary, critical discussion of the report of the Global Commission on Drug Policy.

The fifth annual conference of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy (ISSDP) was held at the Mitland Hotel, Utrecht, the Netherlands, May 23-24, 2011. The event was hosted by the Trimbos Institute.

The conference was followed by specialist workshops on 'Assessing options for supply of marijuana to legal cannabis markets' and on 'Unintended consequences of drug policy' on 25th May.

Immediately after the conference on 17th March, there was an ISSDP workshop on sociological and anthropological contributions to drug policy studies, under the title Drugs, Culture and Society. On the afternoon of 17th March, there was also a workshop on Developments in Longitudinal Modeling of Drug Use and Associated Outcomes.
